Under the leadership of Bill Robbins, four teams headed by Sean, Steve, Milt, and Bill will implement a strategy to strenghten our membership and expand our service to the children of our community. Each team will invite freinds, business associates, and interested community leaders to join us at a special meeting. HOMESTRETCH PROJECT TO PROVIDE A BETTER CHRISTMAS
Jan Hackney, our very busy leader, writes the following update to her announcement at our last week's meeting at Nancy G's:
This year, we will again be participating in sponsoring a family for Homestretch. We have a family - Mom, plus a 18 year old male, 9 year old female, 7 year old female, and a 5 year old male. HomeStretch has sent me the information with their individual "Wish List". Last year, I purchased all the gifts and then was reimbursed by the Kiwanis Club of Sandy Springs. I will be happy to do this again. If you would like to help, you may send a donation in the form of cash (which I apply to the gifts) or gift certificates to Kroger/Publix/Target/Kohls. You may mail them to my home (210Gold Creek Court, Atlanta, GA 30350) or give it to me at the Woodland Thanksgiving dinner - or the Ronald McDonald House night on November 30, 2009. Thank you so much - and Happy Holidays! Jan Hackney.
Editors Note: A great example of our mission to serve children. Join us at the Woodland School, the 19th, the RMDH, the 30th, and join Jan again for this Christmas family support effort. We do have a lot to share our Thanks.

The recipient of this honor – The Spirit of Sandy Springs Award – receives a check for $1,000 to be given to the secular, non-partisan Sandy Springs organization of his or her choice. The recipient of the 2009 Spirit of Sandy Springs Award, Mr. Guy Berger, continues to make Sandy Springs a wonderful community.

He worked with the Sandy Springs Society on the Turtle Project helping to place many of the turtles, and coordinating the Turtle Parade.
Guy has been a Kiwanis member for 35 years and has been instrumental in the success of the Sandy Springs Kiwanis Club. He has served in various officer positions and chaired many committees including Membership, Spiritual Aims, Fundraising and Community Service. He has worked with youth participating in reading programs for children at Woodland Elementary Charter School and with Boy Scouts working on their Eagle projects. For the last five years, he has chaired and organized the 14th Division Kiwanis Good Friday Service at Arlington Memorial Park.
